How we figured everyday beer costs
We looked at big packs of Carlton Dry, VB and Great Northern around the $60 mark. Total pack volume is split into 425 ml schooners, then pack price is divided by glasses. It lands around $3 per schooner.
Example (Carlton Dry style): 24 × 330 ml = 7,920 ml → about 18.6 schooners → $60 ÷ 18.6 ≈ $3.22.
How we figured craft beer costs
We checked packs like Balter XPA, Stone & Wood and Mountain Culture Status Quo. Same schooner math. Average lands around $4.80 per schooner.
Example (Balter-style): 16 × 375 ml = 6,000 ml → about 14.1 schooners → $64 ÷ 14.1 ≈ $4.53.

How Cocktail Math works
Bar total = guests × drinks per guest × bar price. Cooler Keg total = same drink count × batched cost for the selected recipe style. Savings = bar total − keg total. Payoff parties = Cooler Keg price ÷ savings per party.
Capacity uses the dual 6.7 L kegs (13.4 L total): about 90 × 150 ml mixed serves or about 144 × 90 ml cocktails per fill. Batch once. Pour all night.
Recipe cost basis (indicative AU retail)
- Aperol Spritz / whiskey lemonade / pink vodka lemonade: roughly $3.50–$4.50 ingredients per serve at batch scale
- Watermelon margarita: closer to $5–$6 when using decent tequila and fresh/juice components
- Lights Out Punch: lower cost crowd batch, often near $3.50
These are planning numbers for savings direction, not a fixed menu quote. Your bottle-shop specials can beat them.
